CHINA NOW witnesses the first attempt to extend this nationwide concert tour from China to Britain, featuring in the most popular western and Chinese instruments, to explore the communication between classic music of east and west. Born in 1939 and 1982 respectively, Pianist Liu Shi-kun and Zheng Performer Yi Dong are two of the most prominent musical soloists of their generations in China. Besides classical and romantic works on piano, the concert collects Chinese piano pieces, zheng solos of recent compositions and five different schools of traditional zheng performance with strong regional colours, as well as duets of zheng and piano.
CHINA NOW, the UK's largest ever festival of Chinese culture, is a 6-month nationwide festival spanning music, Chinese film, cuisine, comics, art, literature, design, science, technology, business, education and sport across the UK.
“时代中国”目睹了这一在中国颇具影响的巡回演奏会在英国的首场公演。钢琴演奏家刘诗昆和青年古筝演奏家董怡是中国当代最受关注的独奏家的代表。他们将分别演奏西方和中国普及度最高的乐器，用音乐与观众进行一场关于中西方音乐文化交流的对话。演出曲目包括西方古典、浪漫派和中国当代钢琴作品，当代古筝作品与极具地方特色的五个传统筝派的代表作，以及古筝、钢琴二重奏。
“时代中国”是有史以来在英国举办的最大规模的中国文化盛典，历时6个月之久，是全国范围集艺术、设计、饮食文化、科学、技术、商业、教育与体育的精彩荟萃。
