Challenges and Opportunities in Product Engineering

OBJECTIVES:
This annual conference is organised by The Chinese Society of Chemical Science and Technology in the UK (CSCST-UK) and The Society of Chemical Industry – Chinese UK Section (SCI-CS). It aims to bring together scholars in the broad Chemistry and Chemical related fields from the UK and China and to provide a platform for collaborations and exchange of ideas and experience. The conference will be held in Centre for Formulation Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering, the University of Birmingham.
THEME AND SCOPE:
The theme of the conference is: Challenges and Opportunities in Product Engineering. The scientific committee welcomes contributions in research, development, application and implementation of the emerging techniques associated with chemical, food, pharmaceutical and biomedical products. The conference program will include keynote lectures, competitively selected oral presentations and poster presentations. There will be a best oral presentation competition and a poster competition. Contributions from young Chinese scholars and students are particularly welcomed. Topics appropriate for submission to this conference are manifold.
Papers are invited on the following subjects, but are not limited to:
• Chemicals and agrochemicals
• Pharmaceutics and biopharmaceutics
• Health care and cosmetics
• Food and drink
• Biomaterials, tissue engineering and functional materials
• Energy conversion and storage systems
• Nanotechnology
• Process and product modelling
For papers to be considered for the oral presentation, an one-page abstract must be submitted electronically to Dr. Charley Wu (c.y.wu@bham.ac.uk ) before 1st August 2007. The deadline of abstract submission for poster competition is 20th September 2007. Selected papers will be recommended to publish in suitable journals subject to a standard peer-review process.
REGISTRATION:
The conference will be suitable for scientists, engineers in academia and industry, and PhD students. The registration for this conference is free. In addition, partial funding will be available to cover travel expenses incurred upon availability of fund. Prospective attendees are encouraged to complete and return the attached registration form at their earliest convenience, but no later than 28th September 2007.
