BSRIA, a UK-based organisation, has been providing the building services industry with independent research and information for over 50 years. BSRIA’s Worldwide Market Intelligence division is a leading supplier of market intelligence and consultancy services to the global building services arena. And has undertaken research in over 90 countries with a global client base.
Due to a rapid expansion of our business we are seeking staff for our new office in Beijing, which will service the whole of China and other parts of Asia. The role will involve interviewing by telephone and face-to-face, mainly with senior commercial contacts and suppliers, plus analysis of the results and report writing. The role has scope to include many product areas and involve a wide range of companies.
For the right person this position will provide an interesting and satisfying opportunity to operate with a high level of autonomy within a short space of time, also opportunities to become a product specialist and to develop their own research ideas.
Worldwide Market Intelligence (WMI)
BSRIA’s Worldwide Market Intelligence Division enjoys a high profile in the fascinating world of building services technology and related industries. It is arguably the only source of such high quality market research and marketing consultancy services with the market. WMI now consists of several business areas: Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (AC&R), Controls Technologies, Heating, Plumbing and Construction (HPC); Facilities Management and Contracting and IT Structured Cabling.
Note that technical knowledge of the building services industry and products is not necessary and should not prevent candidates from applying, and training will be given at BSRIA’s headquarters near London as well as on live projects in China.
The company aims to provide a top quality, and where appropriate, innovative service for its clients. As part of this BSRIA operates a formal quality assurance system and WMI continually aims for improvement in a young work environment.

Person description
You should have:
· Excellent research skills (investigative, problem identification and solution)
· The ability to systematically determine what information is required and then to successfully seek it out
· Accuracy and attention to detail
· Interested in China as well as international research
· The ability to work to budgets and deadlines
· The ability to balance thoroughness with commercial demands
· High commercial awareness including the ability to identify potential areas for new projects
· Numeric skills
· Bilingual English/Chinese (Mandarin), with one or more European/Asian languages an advantage
· A clear and confident communicator, with good verbal, written and presentation skills
· A highly developed and creative approach to problem-solving
· Good inter-personal skills
· Computer literacy (current packages used are Microsoft Word and Excel).
· Ability to promote and sell BSRIA’s market research work

Qualifications and Experience
· A Business or other degree.
· Some commercial experience preferably (1-2 years).
· Marketing and research, preferably in a business-to-business research agency would be an advantage.
· Ideally speaking another language in addition to bilingual English/Chinese (Mandarin)
