Research Fellow: Context-sensitive Multimedia Search

KMi has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to undertake research within the context of an EPSRC-funded project, Renaissance, which aims to develop a comprehensive information retrieval framework which integrates context, content, media and structure. This is a joint project between the Open University, the University of Glasgow and Queen Mary University of London. The Open University will contribute to the development of the general framework, implement and evaluate the framework in large scale multimedia search tasks, such as TRECVID and INEX Multimedia Track.
You should have a PhD, strong publication record and R&D experience in information retrieval models, and/or (multimedia) information retrieval or databases. Strong theoretical background and strong programming skills in C/C++, MATLAB and/or JAVA are essential. A background in physics or mathematics will be a plus.
