FTChinese.com (《金融时报》中文网) is now looking for a part-time employee as the assistant to the production editor. As a key member of the editorial team he or she will be involved in the development of the site, both technically and editorially. The post is also ideal for someone who wants to develop journalistic interest in Chinese affairs.

The FTChinese.com is based at the FT’s headquarters in London.

The successful candidate will be responsible for daily web production, website maintenance, liaison with technical and IT support and at the same time managing the site’s increasingly vital user-generated content, such as letters, blogs, BBS, competitions, online forum, online polling and so on.

Key requirements: Chinese as a first language and very good command of English are essential. The successful applicant for this position should ideally have the following qualifications:

  • Degrees in business studies, economics, journalism and sociology;
  • Sufficient knowledge of Chinese economy and society;
  • With journalistic or editorial background and some experience working in international media is desirable.

He/she should have a good understanding of online journalism, a proven track record of meeting demanding deadlines and a commitment to the highest possible production standards.

The candidate needs to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, be confident in dealing with other departments and have a flexible approach to work with a good eye for detail. He/she must be able to work effectively both as part of the team and on personal initiative.

Web-production experience would be an advantage.
