Based in ACE Chinese Project Office, Beijing, China

Grade 8: Salary £33,779 - £40,335 p.a.

An experienced clinical project manager is required for a major new randomised controlled multicentre outcome study, the Acarbose
Cardiovascular Evaluation (ACE) trial. ACE will be conducted in approximately 150 cardiovascular units in Mainland China and Hong Kong, recruiting 7500 patients over an 18 month period commencing in 2008. It is anticipated that this will be a six-year project with the trial reporting in 2014. ACE is an investigator-initiated, academic study designed by Professor Rury Holman from the University of Oxford Diabetes Trials Unit (DTU), UK, Professor Chang Yu Pan from the Chinese PLA General Hospital, China and Professor Dayi Hu from Peking University People’s Hospital, China.

We are looking for a high-calibre, medical or life sciences graduate with proven clinical trial management experience who can successfully
manage and motivate a large team of professionals in China. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of ICH GCP and research governance, and have excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Chinese (Mandarin). They will be able to work accurately under pressure, deal effectively with conflicting priorities as well as having highly developed problem solving skills.

This is a pivotal role and the prime responsibility of the postholder is to ensure the effective day-to-day running of the Trial in China in
accordance with the study protocol, ICH GCP and regulatory procedures.

The postholder will be responsible for setting up and running the ACE Chinese Project Office, implementing study procedures, overseeing study sites, budget management, recruiting, training and managing study staff and liaising closely with the ACE co-ordinating centre in Oxford to facilitate the successful conduct of the Trial.
